🔧 Product Description

 

This is a fully 3D printable welding purge bung designed to diffuse shielding gas evenly into tubing during welding applications. The internal diffuser design helps create a smoother and more consistent gas flow, improving purge coverage and helping achieve cleaner internal welds.

 

The bung is designed as a push-fit connection for 6mm OD tubing or a barbed fitting. For best results, it is recommended to glue a short section of tube into the inlet to reduce the chance of the line becoming detached during use, which could contaminate the weld.

 

Inside the bung is a network of internal passages that distribute the shielding gas more evenly throughout the tubing. This helps reduce direct gas jetting and turbulence, resulting in a more stable and effective purge.

 

🛡️ To further improve gas diffusion, the design also includes a recessed groove for installing fine mesh. The mesh helps smooth airflow and reduce turbulence even further, improving purge consistency across the tube diameter.

Due to the temperatures involved during welding, the choice of print material is extremely important. Depending on the material used and proximity to heat, the printed part may soften, deform, melt, or ignite during use.

High temp TPU for best sealing results unless using tape to hold the bung to the end of the tubing, then a harder material can be used.
